What is considered a low speed vehicle in the SC?

According to South Carolina Code 56-2-100, a low-speed vehicle is a four wheeled vehicle that can achieve a speed of more than 20 miles per hour (20 mph) and not more than 25 miles per hour (25 mph) in a mile.

Low speed vehicles may be driven on expressways or streets where the published speed limit is thirty-five (35) miles per hour or less. The LSV cannot operate on the IOP connector because its speed is limited to forty-five (45) miles per hour. Low speed vehicles may cross the freeway at intersections where the posted speed limit on the freeway exceeds thirty-five (35) miles per hour. When driving on any highway, low-speed vehicles must always meet the requirements of Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 500 (49 CFR 571.500). Low speed vehicles can be driven after dark.
