Linear voltage regulator in DC charging pile power management chip: the core of stable power supply

The Linear Regulator plays a crucial role in the power management chip of the DC charging pile. It is responsible for converting the unstable input voltage into a stable low voltage output, ensuring the stable operation of the internal circuit of the charging pile.

Main component

Concept:

A linear voltage Regulator, also known as the Low Dropout Regulator (LDO), is a low-power power integrated circuit that integrates very low on-impedance field-effect tubes (FETs), Schottky diodes, sampling/voltage division resistors, comparators, and other components. The linear voltage regulator can control the voltage drop in the regulating tube through the output voltage feedback and the control circuit composed of the error amplifier, so as to achieve the purpose of voltage regulation.

Function:

1. Stable voltage output: Linear regulators can provide a stable DC low voltage power output, usually less than 15VDC.

2. Low noise and high PSRR: Linear regulators have low proprietary noise and high power supply rejection ratio (PSRR), which means that they are able to provide a relatively stable supply voltage with small ripple to the individual components in the circuit.

3. Protection function: Many linear regulators also integrate value-added features such as over-current, over-voltage, short-circuit protection and over-temperature protection.

4. Low-voltage differential operation: the voltage drop voltage of the low-voltage differential regulator (LDO) is particularly low, generally 300mV(0.3V) or below, which is often encountered in the power supply of the microprocessor.

Working Principle:

The working principle of the linear voltage regulator is realized through a reference voltage source and an error amplifier. The error amplifier compares the difference between the output voltage and the reference voltage and generates a control signal to adjust the on-state of the transistor or FET so that the output voltage remains stable. When the input voltage or load current changes cause the output voltage to change, the voltage drop of the adjustment tube can be changed through the feedback and control circuit, so that the output voltage is basically unchanged.

Sum up

In summary, linear regulators play a core role in the power management chip of the DC charging pile, which not only provides a stable power output, but also enhances the reliability and security of the entire system through integrated protection functions.

DC CHARGING PIlE SERIES

DC charging pile is an efficient charging facility for electric vehicles, which uses direct current (DC) to directly charge the vehicle battery, significantly reducing the charging time. Compared with traditional AC charging piles, DC charging piles are able to provide higher power output and can usually charge an EV to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, providing users with a convenient charging experience.
