Introduction to the sealing materials in the indicator light

Main component

The sealing material in the indicator plays a vital role in ensuring product performance and extending service life. These materials are mainly used to prevent the erosion of the internal components by moisture, dust and other environmental factors, thus ensuring the normal operation of the indicator light in a variety of harsh conditions.

Common sealing materials include silicone, polyurethane, EPDM (ethylene propylene diene monomer) rubber and fluorine rubber. Silica gel is widely used in outdoor indicator lights and LED lighting products because of its excellent high temperature resistance, ultraviolet resistance and waterproof ability. Polyurethane has good elasticity and wear resistance and is suitable for use in equipment that requires frequent switching or moving.

EPDM rubber is a weather-resistant material commonly used in environments that require a high degree of tightness, such as automotive and industrial equipment. In contrast, fluororubbers offer higher chemical resistance and high temperature resistance and are suitable for indicators under extreme operating conditions.

The selection of appropriate sealing materials can not only improve the protection level of the indicator light (such as IP65, IP67, etc.), but also prevent short circuit or function failure caused by water vapor intrusion, thereby improving product reliability and user experience. When designing the indicator light, engineers need to consider the characteristics of different sealing materials to ensure that the product can be durable and stable operation in a specific environment.
