Introduction to error amplifier of DC charging pile power switch chip

Main component

Concept:

The error amplifier is a key component in the DC charging pile power switch chip, which belongs to a kind of operational amplifier, used to compare the error value between the sampling voltage (UQ, also known as feedback voltage) and the reference voltage (UREF), so as to generate the error voltage (Ur), and then adjust the working state of the power tube to achieve a stable output voltage.

Function:

The main function of the error amplifier is to ensure the stability of the output voltage of the DC charging pile power supply. It controls the output of the power supply by detecting the output voltage and comparing it to the set reference voltage, generating a control signal to adjust the PWM (pulse width modulation) controller of the switching power supply, thereby keeping it at the desired voltage level. The performance of the error amplifier directly affects the stability and accuracy of the power supply.

Working Principle:

1. Voltage comparison: The error amplifier receives the sampled voltage (UQ) from the output and the reference voltage (UREF) set internally. The two voltage values are compared inside the error amplifier.

2. Error signal generation: If there is a difference between the sample voltage and the reference voltage, the error amplifier will produce an error voltage (Ur), which is an amplified representation of the difference between the two voltages.

3. PWM control: The error voltage (Ur) generated will be used as the input signal of the PWM controller, according to which the controller adjusts the switching frequency or duty cycle of the switching power supply to adjust the output voltage and reduce the error until the output voltage is stable at the set reference voltage level.

4. Feedback adjustment: The error amplifier is usually in a closed-loop control system, and any change in the output voltage will be transmitted to the error amplifier again through the feedback mechanism for comparison and adjustment, forming a continuous adjustment cycle to ensure the stability of the output voltage.

5. Compensation and stability: Due to the influence of external components, the error amplifier may produce self-excited oscillation, so phase compensation is required to ensure the stability of the system. For example, the error amplifier inside a switching power supply IC such as the UC3875 includes a phase compensation mechanism.

Sum up

To sum up, the error amplifier in the DC charging pile power switch chip is the core component to maintain the stable output of the power supply. Through accurate voltage comparison and feedback control, the charging pile can provide stable and reliable DC power supply.

DC CHARGING PIlE SERIES

DC charging pile is an efficient charging facility for electric vehicles, which uses direct current (DC) to directly charge the vehicle battery, significantly reducing the charging time. Compared with traditional AC charging piles, DC charging piles are able to provide higher power output and can usually charge an EV to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, providing users with a convenient charging experience.
