Introduction of heat pipe in DC charging heat dissipation system

In the design of DC charging pile, thermal management is a crucial link to ensure the stable operation and prolong the service life of the charging module. Heat pipe, as an efficient heat transfer technology, plays an important role in this field. The following is a detailed introduction to the concept, function and working principle of the heat pipe in the charging module of the DC charging pile:

Main component

Concept:

Heat pipe is a kind of device which realizes high efficiency heat conduction by using the principle of heat absorption and heat release in the process of working medium phase transformation. It is usually composed of a tube shell, a suction core and a working medium, and is able to transfer heat from one end to the other without creating a temperature gradient .

Function:

In DC charging piles, the charging module is the main part of generating heat, especially at high power charging. The role of the heat pipe is to rapidly conduct this heat to a place far from the heat source, such as the heat fin, so as to achieve effective heat distribution and keep the charging module running at a suitable working temperature .

Working Principle:

Heat pipes operate based on three basic processes: evaporation, conduction and condensation. When the charging module generates heat, the working medium (such as pure water) inside the heat pipe absorbs heat at the heat source end and evaporates into steam. Due to the capillary structure inside the heat pipe, steam flows along the heat pipe to the cooler end, the condensing section. Here, the steam releases heat and condenses back to the liquid state, where it is re-drawn back to the heat source through the capillary action of the suction core, forming a continuous cycle .

Application of DC charging pile

In DC charging pile, the heat pipe usually works with components such as soaking plate, adiabatic section of gravity siphon heat pipe, condensing section and fin of heat pipe cooling system. When the surface temperature of the power module of the charging pile rises, the working liquid charged in the soaking plate attached to the surface of the power module evaporates, and the steam flows into the condensing section extending outside the box along with the adiabatic section of the gravity siphon heat pipe. The condensing section is equipped with heat pipe fins to increase the contact area with the outside air and strengthen heat dissipation. Due to the low external temperature of the box, the steam condenses into the working liquid and is returned to the soaking plate by the capillary tissue inside the adiabatic section wall of the gravity siphon heat pipe to achieve passive heat dissipation .

In this way, the heat pipe not only improves the thermal management efficiency of the DC charging pile, but also reduces the dependence on the active cooling system, and improves the reliability and stability of the system. This passive heat dissipation technology is essential for efficient, safe and stable operation of charging piles.

DC CHARGING PIlE SERIES

DC charging pile is an efficient charging facility for electric vehicles, which uses direct current (DC) to directly charge the vehicle battery, significantly reducing the charging time. Compared with traditional AC charging piles, DC charging piles are able to provide higher power output and can usually charge an EV to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, providing users with a convenient charging experience.
