ESAM/PSAM Card Slot of the DC charging pile reader

Main component

Concept:

ESAM (Enhanced Security Application Module) and PSAM (Personal Security Application Module) are two types of security modules for smart card and security applications. They are often embedded in terminal devices that require a high level of security, such as DC charging pile readers, to provide IC card-level security protection and computing capabilities. The ESAM and PSAM card slots are the slots in the DC charging pile reader for inserting these safety modules.

Function:

Security protection: ESAM and PSAM cards provide security protection for DC charging piles, ensuring confidentiality and integrity of transaction data.

Multi-application support: supports multiple applications with one card, each application is independent from the other, and has the firewall function.

File Type support: Supports a variety of file types, including binary files, fixed length record files, variable length record files, circular files and wallet files.

Secure access and permissions: Supports multiple secure access modes and permissions, including authentication and password protection.

Algorithm support: supports the DES and 3DES algorithms approved by the People's Bank of China, and multi-level key dispersion mechanism to generate MAC1 and verify MAC2.

Communication protocol support: Support a variety of communication protocols, including T=0 (character transfer) and T=1 (block transfer) communication protocols, contact interface in line with the PPS protocol, support for a variety of rate options.

Working Principle:

Key management: ESAM and PSAM cards are embedded in the charging pile reader and provide key management functions, including key generation, storage and use.

Data encryption and authentication: The dispersed key is used as the temporary key to encrypt, decrypt, and MAC the data to complete the legitimate authentication between the terminal and the card.

Communication interface: The ESAM/PSAM card slot is connected to the communication interface of the card reader, supporting contact IC card operation, in line with ISO7816 standards.

Application Execution: The ESAM/PSAM card slot allows the card reader to perform security applications such as authentication, transaction processing, etc., enhancing the functionality and security of the card reader.

Sum up

By integrating ESAM/PSAM card slots, the DC charging pile reader can provide a higher level of security protection and diversified application support to meet the needs of charging piles in terms of safety and functionality. These card slots enable the reader to support multiple security protocols and algorithms, suitable for multi-application environments, and meet high standards of security requirements such as the National Grid.

DC CHARGING PIlE SERIES

DC charging pile is an efficient charging facility for electric vehicles, which uses direct current (DC) to directly charge the vehicle battery, significantly reducing the charging time. Compared with traditional AC charging piles, DC charging piles are able to provide higher power output and can usually charge an EV to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, providing users with a convenient charging experience.
