EPS technology: Shell material epoxy resin board +PVC

The emergency power supply (EPS) system is an important device to ensure the continuous operation of critical equipment when the main power supply fails. The shell material of EPS system has an important influence on its performance and service life. This paper will discuss the technical characteristics and applications of epoxy resin board and PVC (polyvinyl chloride) as shell materials used in EPS system.

Characteristics of epoxy resin board

Epoxy sheet is a material made of epoxy resin that has the following properties:

Variety of forms: Epoxy resins can be formulated as needed, from very low viscosity to high melting point solids, to suit a variety of applications.

Easy curing: The epoxy resin system can be cured in the temperature range of 0 ~ 180℃, and the curing process is convenient.

Strong adhesion: the polar hydroxyl and ether bonds in the molecular chain of epoxy resin make it have high adhesion to various substances, low shrinkage when curing, and small internal stress, which helps to improve the adhesion strength.

Low shrinkage: Epoxy resin curing process shows very low shrinkage (less than 2%), which is conducive to maintaining the dimensional stability of the product.

Mechanical properties: The cured epoxy resin system has excellent mechanical properties.

Electrical properties: The cured epoxy resin system is an excellent insulating material with high dielectric properties, surface leakage resistance and arc resistance.

Chemical stability: The cured epoxy resin system has excellent alkali resistance, acid resistance and solvent resistance, and the chemical stability depends on the resin and curing agent selected.

Dimensional stability: Epoxy resin system has outstanding dimensional stability and durability.

Mold resistance: The cured epoxy resin system is resistant to most molds and can be used under harsh tropical conditions.

Characteristics of PVC

PVC, or polyvinyl chloride, is a multi-purpose plastic material that has the following properties:

Electrical insulation properties: PVC has good electrical insulation properties and can be used as low-frequency insulation materials.

Chemical stability: PVC has good chemical stability and strong acid and alkali resistance.

Physical characteristics: the specific gravity of PVC is 1.38 g/cm ³, the molding shrinkage rate is 0.6-1.5%, the molding temperature is 160-190℃, and the melting point is 212℃.

Mechanical and electrical properties: PVC has good mechanical and electrical properties, good chemical stability, but low softening point.

Molding characteristics: PVC is amorphous material, small moisture absorption, poor fluidity, mold must be cooled, surface chromium plating.

EPS shell material application

The selection of the shell material of EPS system needs to consider its protection performance, durability and environmental adaptability. Epoxy resin board is very suitable as the shell material of EPS system because of its excellent mechanical properties, electrical insulation, chemical stability and dimensional stability. It can provide good protection against external environment damage to the internal components of EPS system.

Because of its good electrical insulation and chemical stability, PVC material is suitable for some components of EPS systems, especially in environments where electrical insulation and chemical resistance are required. The molding properties of PVC also make it a viable choice for manufacturing enclosures and components for EPS systems.

Epoxy sheet and PVC each offer unique advantages as shell materials for EPS systems. Epoxy sheets provide strong protection for EPS systems with their superior mechanical and electrical properties. PVC, with its good insulation properties and chemical stability, provides a suitable material choice for specific components of EPS systems.
