Comparison of three types of battery cycle life

Lead-acid battery

Lithium-ion batteries

A lithium-ion battery is a type of battery that stores and releases electrical energy by moving lithium ions freely between the positive and negative electrodes. Due to their high energy density, long cycle life and low self-discharge rate, lithium-ion batteries are widely used in smartphones, electric vehicles and renewable energy storage systems.

The cycle life of lithium-ion batteries is usually between 1000 and 5000 cycles, which is better than lead-acid batteries and nickel-metal hydride batteries. Its long life is mainly due to its advanced electrochemical characteristics and relatively low internal resistance. However, the life of lithium-ion batteries is also affected by a number of factors, including the charging method (fast charge, slow charge), depth of discharge (DOD) and use temperature. Through reasonable charge and discharge management, its cycle life can be effectively extended.
