Charge control chip for trickle/constant current/constant voltage charge control

The trickle/constant current/constant voltage charge control of the charge control chip is the three key stages of the lithium battery charging process, and the following is a brief description of each stage:

Main component

Trickle Charging

The trickle charge phase usually begins when the battery voltage is low and is used to precharge the fully discharged battery cell (restorative charge) first. At this stage, the charging current is small to avoid damage to the battery. For example, the SUM4056 charge management chip uses trickle charging when the battery voltage is below 3V or so, and its trickle charging current is one-tenth of the constant current charging current.

Constant Current Charging

When the battery voltage rises above the trickle charging threshold, charging enters the constant current phase, at which time the charging current remains relatively constant. The current of constant current charging is usually between 0.2C and 1.0C, and the battery voltage gradually increases with the constant current charging process, and the voltage set by a single battery is generally 3.0-4.2V.

Constant Voltage Charging

When the battery voltage rises close to the preset maximum voltage (usually 4.2V), charging enters the constant voltage phase. At this stage, the charging voltage remains constant, while the charging current gradually decreases until the battery is nearly full. When the current drops to 1/10 of the maximum charging current, the charging ends.

Together, these stages ensure the safety and efficiency of the lithium battery charging process, prevent overcharging and overheating, and extend battery life. The charge control chip automatically manages the conversion of these stages through the internal circuit and algorithm to achieve intelligent charge control.

DC CHARGING PIlE SERIES

DC charging pile is an efficient charging facility for electric vehicles, which uses direct current (DC) to directly charge the vehicle battery, significantly reducing the charging time. Compared with traditional AC charging piles, DC charging piles are able to provide higher power output and can usually charge an EV to 80% of its capacity in 30 minutes, providing users with a convenient charging experience.
