BRM Gateway (Billing and Revenue Management Gateway) is part of Oracle Communications Billing and Revenue Management (BRM) system. It is responsible for synchronizing data from the Elastic Charging Engine (ECE) with BRM data. The BRM Gateway ensures data consistency between the two systems by sending update requests from ECE to BRM.

Function:

The main functions of the BRM Gateway include:

Data synchronization: Update requests from ECE are sent to BRM to update data in the BRM database.

Trigger processes: When ECE processes a usage request, trigger the corresponding processes in BRM, such as updating the user lifecycle status or triggering billing.

Information update: After processing the use request in ECE, update the data in the BRM, such as refreshing the item POIDs (product object identifiers).

Working Principle:

The workflow of BRM Gateway is as follows:

Listening Notification queue: The BRM Gateway listens for events in the ECE notification queue that trigger update requests to the BRM.

Connect to the BRM: When a notification event occurs, the BRM Gateway connects to the BRM Connection Manager (CM) and sends the relevant data from the notification event to the BRM.

Calling BRM opcodes: When sending a message, the BRM Gateway invokes the necessary BRM opcodes that use the data to trigger the process in the BRM.

Configure the connection: The BRM Gateway must be configured to connect to the BRM CM to ensure that data is passed correctly from ECE to BRM.

The BRM Gateway is part of the ECE cluster, but it is not storage-enabled; It is a Java process that interacts with ECE via JMS. The main purpose of the BRM Gateway is to interact with BRM and send update requests.
