EPS inverter protection circuit analysis - temperature sensor

Emergency power system (EPS) inverters play a vital role in power conversion and power management, but because of the variability of their working environment and load conditions, the design of protection circuits is particularly important. The effective protection circuit can ensure the safe and stable operation of the inverter and extend the service life of the equipment. This paper will discuss the protection circuit in EPS inverter, focusing on the temperature sensor.

Temperature sensor

Temperature sensors also play an important role in the protection circuit of EPS inverters. They are used to monitor the temperature inside the inverter to prevent equipment damage due to overheating. Temperature sensors can be negative temperature coefficient (NTC) thermistors whose resistance decreases as the temperature increases, triggering a protective circuit.

Temperature monitoring and protection measures

Temperature sensors: Common temperature sensors are thermocouples and thermistors (NTC/PTC). These sensors are used to monitor temperature changes inside and outside the inverter in real time.

Temperature threshold setting: A certain temperature threshold can be set. When the temperature exceeds the preset value, the component begins to enter the protection state.

Control system response: In the event that the temperature is detected to be too high, the MCU or DSP can take measures such as reducing the output power of the inverter, enabling the fan for heat dissipation, or directly cutting off the power supply to prevent overheating damage.

CONCLUSION

In the overtemperature protection circuit, the temperature sensor (such as NTC thermistor) and the operation amplifier constitute a comparison circuit, when the temperature exceeds the set threshold, the output signal of the operation amplifier will change, triggering the protection mechanism. This design can effectively prevent the inverter from working in a high temperature environment and protect the safety of the equipment.
