Power Management Chip (PMIC), that is, power management chip, is a specific purpose of the integrated circuit, its main function is the main system power management, including voltage conversion, current control, power rail management, power monitoring and so on. Working Principle:

Input voltage regulation: The first step of PMIC is to regulate the input voltage to ensure that the power supply system of the wireless module can work normally under different input voltage conditions. This step is usually achieved through a voltage regulator circuit, such as a linear regulator or a switching regulator.

DC-DC conversion: Another important function of the power management IC chip is to convert the input voltage to the output voltage required by the wireless module. This step is usually achieved using DC-DC converters, and different types of DC-DC converters can be selected according to the different output voltages, such as buck converters, boost converters, step-up converters, and so on.

Power selection and control: The PMIC can select and distribute power to various parts of the wireless module from multiple power supplies (e.g., external DC power supplies, batteries, USB power supplies, etc.), such as providing multiple power supplies of different voltages, and is responsible for charging the internal battery.

Communication and coordination: Due to the need to coordinate with the main system, the PMIC needs a signal interface to communicate with the main system, generally using series interfaces such as I²C or SPI, and some PMIC with simple functions will directly connect to the MCU GPIO with an independent signal.
