Concept:

The Mobile Industry Processor Interface (MIPI) is a set of interface standards defined by the MIPI Alliance. It is used to standardize internal interfaces of mobile devices, such as cameras, displays, baseband, and radio interfaces. In the DC charging pile Display chip, the MIPI Interface mainly refers to the MIPI DSI (Display Serial Interface), which is used to connect the display screen and the processor to provide high-bandwidth serial data transmission.

Function:

High-speed transmission: The MIPI DSI interface is capable of delivering transmission rates up to 1Gbps/Lane and 4Gbps throughput in 4Lane configurations.

Low voltage, low power consumption: MIPI interface uses low voltage differential signal, swing 350mV, common mode voltage 200mV, which helps to reduce power consumption.

Reduce the number of pins: Compared to traditional parallel interfaces, the MIPI interface reduces the number of pins, making PCB layout more convenient.

Multiple data encoding formats: MIPI interface supports RGB, YUV, RAW and other data encoding formats. Power Management: The MIPI interface supports multiple power management modes, including Low Power mode (LP) and High speed mode (HS).

Working Principle:

The MIPI DSI interface defines the high-speed serial interface between the processor and the display module, which is based on the MIPI Protocol, including the physical Layer (PHY Layer), protocol Layer (Protocol Layer) and Application layer (Application Layer). The MIPI DSI interface supports two main working modes: Command Mode and Video Mode.

Command mode: Similar to the CPU screen, the host sends commands and data to the peripheral and refreshes the GRAM using the DCS Long Write Command Packet.

Video mode: Similar to RGB synchronous screen, the screen brushing is based on timing control, using sync packet to achieve timing synchronization, Pixel packet to achieve LCD screen brushing.

The MIPI DSI interface enables physical layer connectivity via D-PHY or C-PHY, where C-PHY is a new generation interface that supports higher data transfer rates and more energy efficient designs.
