The main steps of volume separation
Discharge test
Purpose: To measure the true capacity and test the performance of a battery by simulating its actual use.
Procedure:
The completed battery is placed in the test equipment and discharged in constant current mode until the battery voltage drops to a set cut-off voltage (e.g. 2.5V or 3.0V).
The key parameters of the battery such as capacity, voltage change, internal resistance and temperature rise are recorded during discharge.
Results: The actual discharge capacity of each battery was obtained and its basic performance was evaluated.
Capacity classification
Objective: To classify the batteries according to the results of discharge test and ensure the consistent performance of each cell in the battery pack.
Procedure:
According to the capacity of the battery is divided into different grades (such as class A, Class B, class C, etc.).
Batteries with small capacity differences are classified into the same class and used for subsequent battery assembly.
Significance: Capacity classification helps to improve the overall consistency of the battery pack and avoid the shortened life of the battery pack due to insufficient performance of individual batteries.
Electrical performance testing
Objective: To further evaluate other performance indicators of the battery to ensure that the outgoing battery meets the design requirements.
Procedure:
In addition to capacity, it also detects the internal resistance, discharge platform, temperature rise and other performance of the battery.
According to the test results, unqualified batteries (such as batteries with too low capacity or too high internal resistance) are removed.
Results: The batteries with stable performance and up to standard were selected to provide guarantee for the final products.
Battery sorting
Objective: To further group the partitioned cells to provide a battery with matching performance for battery assembly.
Procedure:
On the basis of capacity classification, the internal resistance and voltage of the battery are considered comprehensively, and the battery with similar performance is further screened.
Ensure that the differences in the overall performance of the same battery group are as small as possible.
Results: The performance of battery pack was optimized and its service life was prolonged.
