Formation and separation

Formation and volume separation are important steps in the battery production process, which are mainly used to improve the performance and stability of the battery and ensure the balance of the battery pack. This process usually occurs after the battery assembly is completed, after the initial sealing, injection and other processes, the purpose is to activate the electrochemical reaction of the battery and allocate the capacity of the battery to ensure that each single battery can achieve the expected performance before leaving the factory.

Formation and separation

Formation and capacitance separation are the key links to ensure battery performance and consistency. Formation ensures the stability and efficiency of the battery by activating the electrochemical reaction inside the battery; The capacitance is tested by discharge to ensure that the capacity of each cell in the battery pack is consistent to avoid the impact of capacity differences on the performance of the battery pack. Accurate charging voltage, current control, temperature management and battery sorting are key to ensure successful formation and capacitance separation.

Concrete process

Formation refers to the initial charge and discharge process of the battery by applying a specific voltage and current to the battery to activate the electrochemical reaction inside the battery. During the formation process, the positive and negative electrode materials of the battery react with the electrolyte to form a stable solid electrolyte interface (SEI film) to ensure the long-term stability and high efficiency of the battery.
The formation steps include:
Initial charge: Charge the battery to the specified voltage (generally 3.6V or 4.2V).
Constant current charging: The battery is charged under constant current conditions and begins to activate the electrochemical reaction.
Constant voltage charging: After reaching the set voltage, the battery continues to charge at constant voltage to ensure that the chemical reaction in the battery is fully carried out.

Capacity separation refers to the discharge of the formed battery and testing its capacity, the purpose is to ensure that the capacity of each battery is consistent, and eliminate the performance of the battery is not up to standard.
The steps of volume separation include:
Discharge: Discharge through the constant discharge electrical apparatus, record the discharge capacity of the battery, and ensure that each battery meets the nominal capacity requirements.
Capacity matching: According to the result of discharge, the battery is divided into different capacity levels to ensure that the capacity of each cell in the battery pack is consistent, to avoid the performance of the battery pack due to uneven capacity.
